Dr Robert Kaufer is a leading specialist in cataracts and refractive surgery and has held the position of Medical Director at the Kaufer Eye Clinic, since 1992.

Since this time, he has also rotated attendance in surgery and out patient clinics at the Instituto Prof. Pedro Lagleyze (Buenos Aires) specialising in retinal disorders such as glaucoma, cornea, strabismus, uveitis, tear ducts and oculoplasty. It was here that he also carried out the first performance of cataracts surgery with topical anaesthesia.

Dr Kaufer then became involved in the development of intraocular multi-focal lens implantation techniques and has since has performed operations throughout the country and abroad utilising multi-focal lenses. Since 1998 he has participated as an invited speaker at conferences on the specialty held in various countries throughout the world.

Dr Kaufer is responsible for the cataract section at the Universidad del Salvador and is a member of several societies, including: Sociedad Argentina de Oftalmología, Consejo Argentino de Oftalmología, American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators, International Society of Refractive Surgery, adn the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
